Spooky Season Book Fair - October 18th
Join us for a night of spooky books, drinks, and good food!
We will be hosting our first annual horror and spooky-season themed book fair at New Basin Distilling Company, where we will have lots of fun spooky-season books and bookish accessories out to explore. It's a night of scary shopping! You can expect to find:
- Horror books of all kinds
- Dark romance books
- Halloween themed items
- Witchy items
- Mystery book packs
and so much more!!!
So grab a drink from the bar, and a pizza from Whiskey Pie (so delicious!) and have an epic time shopping!

FAQs
Q: Are kids allowed?
A: Yes, all ages are welcome. The book fair will not feature any children's book though. This event is catered to adults (we deserve book fairs too!).

Q: Should we get dressed up for this event? 
A: Absolutely! It's dress-up season!!!

Q: Will there be food?
A: Whiskey Pie will be slinging pizza and other delicious items from their food truck. We can't wait!

 

Books, Brews, and Tattoos - The perfect event for book and tattoo lovers!
Our annual bookseller competition + an epic book pitching event and collab with our local tattoo studio! 
Join us Saturday, September 20th from 5-9pm for our official Books, Brews, and Tattoos event! We will be pitching our anuual staff picks live in the bookstore, and will have some epic sales ready for you. Grab a tarot themed cocktail by the talented @proofandparchment.pdx and a charcuterie cup from @blackrosekitchen, and head across the street to Gold Star Tattoo, where they have spooky and bookish flash tattoos avalible for just $85! It will be a lively night of enthusiastic book recommendations, spooky shopping, new tattoos, and epic fun. Grab a friend and meet us downtown!

Every year our booksellers curate a list of their abosolute favorite reads (5 star books only!) that they think you absolutely, 100% need to read. And why not make it a competition! Because we all read a lot, but we want to know who is the best. Who has the best book picks, the best recommendations, the best ability to convince you to read our favorite story? So in the spirit of friendly competition, and us really wanting those bragging rights, each book purchased off of our staff picks lists counts as point toward that bookseller. So support your favorite shelf/shelves and help one of us win epic bragging rights!

Autumn Black Bird Book Club Picks
Get ready for an extra spooky few months of book club! We are diving into Autumn with some horror picks we especially love.
For September we are celebrating the the descent of the summer heat with some farmers market horror. That's right! we'd describe this novella as Martha Stewart meets Hannibal Lecter in a sweet, Sapphic love story gone wrong. It's adorable...until it's not.
September book club with take place Thursday, September 25th at 7:30 pm in the bookstore.

Tarot Thursday
Join us for a tarot reading! Whether you have a burning question for the universe, a simple curiosity, or no idea what to ask at all, our in house tarot reader (with almost two decades of reading experience!) will lead you through a soothing and enlightening reading. Message us on Facebook with any questions or to reserve a time slot. Walk ins also welcome!
