Black Bird Summer Reading Challenge
Join in on our epic summer reading challenge! We are so excited to not only have our summer reading raffle, but NEW and super fun passport challenge with a theme all about traveling through books! Stop by the shop to grab your passport and set of challenges. Complete challenges to fill up your passport by reading and posting reviews to earn raffle tickets and an invitation to a end of the summer pizza party! This summer reading challenge (and pizza party) is geared towards adults. However, all ages are welcome to participate!
Tarot Thursdays and Magical Studies
You asked, and they're back! Nova will be doing tarot readings for *at least* the rest of the summer (so stay tuned for updates)! Message us on Facebook to reserve a reading, or stop by and see about any avalibility. Nova has been reading tarot since she was a small child, and has a gift to understanding the language of the cards. Do you have a burning question for the universe? A casual query about your life path? A curiosity about your love life? Bring your questions to Nova!
Black Bird Book Club
Join us for a monthly book pick and chat! Each month we choose a fantasy book we think you'll love and host a little get together in the bookstore to discuss our thought.
This month's book is The Wicked Deep by Shae Ernshaw. It's perfect for fans of coastal vibes, ocean mythology, and eerie mysteries. Bookclub with be hosted on July 31st at 7:30pm in the bookstore.

Downtown Sip and Shops
Join us each first Thursday of the month for a downtown Sip and Shop event! Meander about downtown Madras and see what all the cute local shops and buinesses have to offer. Many buisnesses (including us!) will be open late with specials, sales, and even pop-up events! This is a perfect opportunity to explore downtown, find fun places you didn't know existed, and support local!
Our summer Sip and Shop schedule:
June 4th (5pm-7pm) - Come sip on samples of our brand new tea blend: Inspiration tea! Plus, a sale of Windchimes!
July 2nd (5pm - 7pm) - We will have TWO awesome pop-ups in the shop! Swing by to meet a local fantasy author and get a book signed! We will also have Snephalopagus Creations in the shop selling her adorable Amigurumi plushies.
August 6th (5pm-7pm) - It's back to school season! So expect and awesome sale on books, games, and art supplies to kick of the academic year!
Madras Mayfaire
Are you excited for our next annual Madras Mayfaire? This fantasy-themed Renaissance Faire is our favorite event of the year! Whether you're looking for an epic dress up opportunity (enter the costume contest and get judged by royalty!), wanting to try your hand at axe-throwing and other medieval games, or delight in the idea of shopping a magically themed market, this is the event for you!
Madras Mayfaire 2026 was a huge success! And we are already thinking about next year...
